The film follows Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi. Bambi will destroy anyone in its path.
ITN Studios distributes in the US.

Director Dan Allen (Unhinged, Mummy Reborn, It Came From Below) was quoted saying: “It’s gonna be terrifying. When people see a deer in the wild after this film they’re gonna run for the hills. This film is about the death of childhoods as much as it’s gonna ruin childhoods Expect bloodshed, tears and rabbits… and one mean killer deer. At last, the British countryside will finally get its Godzilla.” (12/15/23)
Filming was originally aimed to begin sometime in the Summer of ’23.
The film’s plot is said to “involve a mutated killer deer in the vein of Cujo.”
In early development, director Scott Jeffrey was quoted saying: “Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”
Scott Jeffrey (Cupid, Don’t Speak, The Curse of Humpty Dumpty, Kingdom of the Dinosaurs) was originally going to direct before being replaced and moving on to Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare instead, which is reportedly set in the same universe.
Produced by the team behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, with the hopes that this film will achieve the same success that movie did considering it made over $5-million at the worldwide box office on a reported budget of less than $100k.
This is a live action horror film that’s said to be “an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love.”
Bambi: The Reckoning was originally set to be released in late 2024.
Umbrella Entertainment released Bambi: The Reckoning in Select Cinemas in Australia on July 24, 2025.
Seismic Releasing and ITN Distribution released Bambi: The Reckoning in Theaters on July 25, 2025.
ITN Distribution released Bambi: The Reckoning on VOD (Amazon Exclusive) on August 29, 2025.
