A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.

In 2023, Warner Bros. acquired and set Trap to be released in theaters on August 2, 2024. In 2024, they postponed it to August 9, and later brought it forward a week to August 2 again.

Filmed in Canada.

Saleka Shyamalan (singer and daughter to M. Night Shyamalan) will play “a popstar in the film whose concert is at the heart of the story.”

Josh Hartnett will play “a father who takes his child to a concert, and unwittingly gets caught up in the surrounding events.”

On the project Shyamalan was quoted saying: “I have a new idea that I’ve started writing. It’s out in 2024 and it’s very, very exciting. It’s a thriller. It’s very unusual and very new compared to what I’ve been trying to do [recently], but I’m feeling very excited about the story, so much so that I can’t wait to tell it to you guys.”

Produced, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Described as a “psychological thriller.”

Warner Bros. Pictures released Trap in Cinemas internationally beginning on August 1, 2024.
