A curious group of friends sneak into an abandoned spinach canning factory to investigate the legend of the “Sailor Man,” who is said to haunt the factory and local docks.

One of the film’s producers was quoted saying: “We can’t wait for audiences to get a load of this gory and scary version of Popeye. We went old-school and focused on using real practical effects, and not relying on CG for the gore. We’re talking with very enthusiastic and interested buyers now.” (11/21/24)

Popeye the Sailor is public domain in Europe, but will reportedly not be public domain in the US until sometime in 2025.
This is one of three Popeye the Sailor horror movies, all of which are unrelated to each other. The other two movies are Popeye’s Revenge and Shiver Me Timbers.
Vantage Media released Popeye The Slayer Man in Theaters and on VOD on March 21, 2025.
