Trapped on a killer’s boat with hungry sharks circling below, a surfer must outwit a predator more dangerous than the ocean itself—will she escape, or become the next offering to the deep? Sean Byrne returns with his third visceral feature, DANGEROUS ANIMALS.
IFC Films and AMC Networks’ streamer Shudder distribute in the US. The film will receive a wide theatrical release before landing on Shudder later in the year.
Shudder’s SVP of acquisitions and productions, Emily Gotto, said the following: “Sean Byrne is one of the most visceral filmmakers in the current genre space and we are thrilled to join forces with him again on Dangerous Animals.” Adding… “In this film, he ventures boldly into two of horror’s most terrifying realms—serial killers and sharks—fusing them into a singularly intense and ferocious spectacle. Prepare for a groundbreaking cinematic experience that will leave you breathless this summer.”
Directed by Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones, The Devil’s Candy), who was quoted saying: “There have been a lot of shark films over the years but, I promise, none like this, where audiences are left to decipher who the deadliest creature really is – man or animal. It’s a survival horror experience with teeth that screams to be seen on the big screen.”
Said to pair “the serial killer genre with sharksploitation.”
IFC Films and Shudder released Dangerous Animals in Theaters on June 6, 2025.
Kismet Movies released Dangerous Animals in Cinemas in Australia and New Zealand on June 12, 2025.
Shaw Organisation released Dangerous Animals in Theatres in Singapore on June 19, 2025.
